A Nollywood actor recently disclosed the dismal compensation he receives for his roles, shining a light on the hardships he confronts within the Nollywood industry.
In an interview with @skibocomedy7, the actor shared that he presently resides in a rundown zinc house riddled with multiple holes. It was a deeply vulnerable moment when he recounted the various challenges he has endured while pursuing his career in Nollywood. Despite being promised adequate payment for his performances, he expressed his profound disappointment as he often receives only a fraction of what he is owed for his dedicated efforts.
During the interview, he revealed, “You’ll be called for a job worth N10k, but once it’s done, you’ll be given N1k and assured that the rest will be paid into your account, but you’ll see nothing. That’s why I eventually gave up on taking such jobs.”
The actor also shed light on the deplorable working conditions he has faced on set. “You’ll deliver a performance that will be uploaded on YouTube, and someone else will reap millions from it, but they won’t even cover your basic expenses. I’ve had to use money I borrowed just to afford a meal after working on such projects,” he shared.
In his dire circumstances, the actor is reaching out for help from anyone who can assist in improving his situation.
